Marcelo Moreira - Artista

         Marcelo Moreira was born in Pará de Minas surrounded by the high mountains of his natal State, Minas Gerais, in Brazil.

         Since his childhood Marcelo expressed his presence in the world through art. From the first scribbles on the wall to the current digital image manipulation, his artistic engagement reflected his questions and values about the mystery and complexity of life. His artworks also materialize a constant exploration of the plastic language using several techniques.

         He lived in different cities in Brazil. The last one was Brasilia, where he got his major in Fine Arts at the Federal University of Brasilia, in 1999, obtaining a solid theoretic and practical formation with emphasis on the conceptual aspects of a work of art.

         In 2000 he moved to Florence, Italy, with a scholarship from the Italian Government for a two year art restoration course at the renowned school “Istituto per L’Arte e Il Restauro Palazzo Spinelli”. After the conclusion of his studies in Italy, he moved to Spain, where he went to the Polytechnical University of Valencia, concluding a one year specialization course also in art restoration. Those courses helped him to complement his education, as he was classically trained in painting, drawing and sculpting.

         Currently Marcelo lives with his always supportive wife in Los Angeles, California, where he’s been investing in his artistic career. Some of his other current activities include art restoration and working as a sculptor for visual FX studios. He participated in film productions such as “Night at The Museum”, “Live Free or Die Hard”, "Batman - The Dark Knight" among others.
